Pawsitive Spirit proudly offers the best dog training classes in Barrie, year round. Our programs are Veterinarian Recommended and are "Truly Dog Friendly". We don't train by force. We teach you to communicate effectively with your dog, resulting in a harmonious working relationship based on trust, not fear.
At Pawsitive Spirit, our training philosophy is to set up our dogs for success and make learning a pawsitive, fun and rewarding experience! We believe each dog and handler team is individual and unique and schedule our classes accordingly. Our small group classes offer lots of personal attention.
If you can't attend regular weekly group classes, you may also register for semi-private, private lessons or in-home training. Classes are available during the day, in the evening and occassionally on weekends.

Behavior Modification
Are you having a problem with your dog? We can assist you with specific issues such as barking, lunging, separation anxiety, house-training issues, etc. We will help you understand your dog's behavior and outline a Behavior Modification Plan for treatment and training.
Puppy Power Hour
Do you have a new puppy in your home? We will come to your home for a personalized in-home Puppy Power Hour training session. Topics include house-training, puppy manners, bite-proofing, socialization and puppy management techniques that the whole family can easily follow.
In Home Training - With or Without You!
An excellent choice for specific training issues that need to be addressed in your own home, or, if your schedule doesn't allow you to attend our regular classes. If you are away during the day, we can come in and train your dog in your absence, leaving a detailed training plan for you to follow.
Drop Off and Train
Need to do some errands for an hour? Drop your dog off for an hour of training and pick up when you're done your errands. We will spend time with you to transfer the training so that you can continue to work with your dog at home.

Pawsitive Spirit Training & Wellness is owned and operated by
Debra Pearse-Lappano.
Debra has extensive experience working with animals. She is an active participant in competitive dog sports, successfully competing at the provincial and national level in Agility with her canine team-mates Kali (Standard Poodle) and Maggie (Border Collie).
Debra also has many years of experience in the horse world as a rider, trainer, coach and judge. She has successfully competed in hunter, jumper and dressage.
In addition to her extensive training background with dogs and horses, Debra also has many credentials in holistic wellness for animals. She is certified in both Canine and Equine Massage Therapy; is a Reiki Master specializing in Animal Reiki; and is an Advanced Student of Traditional Chinese Medicine - completing a dual practitioner certification in both Equine and Small Animal (Canine & Feline) Acupressure.
Debra attends on-going professional development to maintain her high level of competency. She works closely with many local Veterinarians providing training and behavioral consulting, Reiki, Massage and Acupressure.
